Matching Grants Research
From the outset, the Florida High Tech Corridor Council's (FHTCC)
primary focus has been to foster applied research between Corridor
universities and their high tech industry partners. The majority
of the Council's funding has been allocated to this effort. Since
its inception in 1996, FHTCC provided more than $48 million to
fund more than 715 research projects in partnership with more
than 250 companies.
Those companies matched FHTCC funding with more than $103 million
of their corporate expense and federal grant resources. When FHTCC's
contributions are combined with the private expenditures, a total
of more than $150 million in applied research has been generated
within the very industries targeted for growth. These industries
are: Agritechnology; Aviation and Aerospace; Digital Media/Interactive
Entertainment; Financial Services; Information Technology; Life
Sciences/Biotechnology; Microelectronics/Nanotechnology; Modeling,
Simulation and Training; Optics and Photonics; and, Sustainable
Energy.
Additionally, in the nine-year period more than 400 faculty members
and 1,400 undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students conducted
research with scientists and engineers from those same companies.
How to Participate
FHTCC's Matching Grants Research Program is managed on the three
university campuses by a committee of university researchers and
Council partners. FHTCC reviews and approves proposals on a year-round
basis. For further information regarding the Matching Grants Research
Program, please contact the universities:
