Donation to Fund New Center of Excellence
for Florida HighTech Corridor Research
USF Research Foundation Receives $50,000
From Technology Research Consultants
ORLANDO (March 22, 2005) – Technology Research
Consultants (TRC), a company that provides turn-key design, manufacturing
and integration solutions for the aviation industry, presented
the University of South Florida (USF) Research Foundation with
a $50,000 donation at the Central Florida Development Council
Board Meeting on Monday, March 21.
The purpose of the gift is to help establish a Florida
High Tech Corridor Manufacturing Center of Excellence for Obsolescence
Mitigation, as well as other related initiatives.
In the project’s early stages, a study will be conducted to help
determine the size of the manufacturing market and the Corridor’s
capacity to respond to contracting opportunities that might be
generated by the discontinuation of obsolete military equipment.
“On behalf of the Central Florida Development Council, I’d like
to acknowledge TRC’s generous commitment of $50,000 to establish
the Florida High Tech Corridor Manufacturing Center of Excellence
for Obsolescence,” said Tom Patton executive director of the Central
Florida Development Council. “This donation will indefinitely
increase Central Florida’s national technology standing while
helping to identify area technology companies that are able to
support the manufacture of obsolete military products.”
Randy Berridge, president of the Florida High Tech Corridor Council
(FHTCC), was also on hand at the meeting to thank TRC President,
January Dennison, for the donation and for enabling Central Florida
to implement strategies that will help increase its status in
the technology marketplace – one of the main aims for the Corridor.
