UCF Receives Largest Research Donation in History

The University of Central Florida (UCF) will receive $24 million of intellectual property, equipment and cash from Northrop Grumman for computer chip manufacturing research.

The donation, the largest in UCF history, will boost the College of Optics and Photonics’ research in extreme ultraviolet lithography, a process that computer chip manufacturers expect to begin using in approximately four years, because it allows smaller, denser features to be imprinted on chips.

USF Collaborates to Enhance Drug Properties

TransForm Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (TransForm) and University of South Florida (USF) chemists are joining forces to enhance drug properties by exploring pharmaceutical co-crystal structures, a newly recognized category of small molecule pharmaceutical physical properties.

Co-crystals, a combination of two or more distinct compounds arranged to create a unique crystalline form, can improve properties such as solubility, stability and dissolving rates in different medications to offer more treatment options for patients.

TransForm and USF are in a license agreement, which gives TransForm exclusive rights to any new pharmaceutical co-crystal forms discovered at USF.
