Corridor Leaders Appointed to Emerging Technology Commission
Several Corridor leaders have been appointed to the Emerging Technology Commission - tasked with determining which state
universities will receive portions of a $30 million legislative research fund created to establish technology research
facilities. Beverly Kitaoka, senior vice president of Science Applications International Corporation; Jeff Saunders,
president of Swartz Electro-Optics; and Keith Hulbert, general manager of Lakeland Electric, will serve with six other
members. Proposals from universities will be reviewed by the commission and then presented to the Florida Board of Education.
United Kingdom Trade Mission Boosts Ties With Corridor Companies
Nine Corridor companies participated in a booth at Britain's largest aerospace exhibition - the Farnborough International
Air Show - hosted by Enterprise Florida. Encouraging greater British-Floridian business ties and boosting the state's
reputation as a leader in aerospace and aviation technology, the exhibition provided opportunities for 125 Florida companies

Young Tampa Company Receives $2.6 Million In Financing
More than $2.6 million in institutional financing has been raised by a Tampa software company. Skyway Software produces
Web-based programs to help companies cut operating costs, assist seamless transition when automating business processes and
unlock new market opportunities. The funding, led by Armada Ventures, will enable Skyway to bring its initial product to

Seven Corridor companies were represented at the 29th annual
SIGGRAPH (Special Interest Group for Computer Graphics and
Interactive Techniques) conference and exhibition in San Antonio,
Texas July 21-26. UCF's Institute for Simulation and
Training; Real Sims, LLC; STRICOM; Precision Lightworks, LLC; EDS;
Distributed Simulation Technology Inc. (DISTI); and For 3D
joined more than 17,000 computer graphics professionals from 70 countries
who gathered for the week-long conference and exhibition. The Corridor
was among the more than 225 exhibiting companies during the week.
In addition, STRICOM partnered with the Corridor to demonstrate an

Lake Mary Software Developer Lands California Contracts
Three California government agencies have signed contracts with Lake Mary-based information technology company
HTE,
Inc. Software developed for Victor Valley Water District, the City of Imperial Beach, and the County of Lake will have a variety
of uses such as linking government offices, providing financial applications, and adding electronic permitting services. Serving

Hillsborough County Educators to Learn About Semiconductors in Free Camp
Hillsborough County math and science teachers from high schools, community colleges and technical centers will experience high
tech jobs first hand on October 17 and 18 when the Corridor's Tech 4 education initiative brings its free Semiconductor Tech
Camp to the area. The two-day training camp at Hillsborough Community College will provide teachers with valuable
semiconductor industry knowledge and career opportunity information to take back to the classroom. For an RSVP form or

Florida Technology Transfer Showcase Set for October
Companies hunting for new high tech agri-business ideas need to look no further than the first-ever Florida Technology
Transfer Showcase. Presented by the USDA's Agricultural Research Service (ARS) and Enterprise Florida, this daylong event
features ARS scientists from across the country. These scientists will present a wide range of technologies with commercial
potential either available for licensing or still being developed. Participants will also learn about the ARS Technology
Transfer program and technologies that private partners have successfully brought to the marketplace. The Showcase date is
Tuesday, October 29 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the U.S. Horticultural Research Laboratory in Fort Pierce. For information or

Research Has Begun for the 3rd Annual Corridor Directory
Research for Florida's most comprehensive high tech guide - florida.high.tech - has begun. Companies can submit their name for
possible inclusion or update their information online at
www.floridahightech.com. The guide, published through a partnership
between the Florida High Tech Corridor Council and the Maddux Report, is scheduled to be completed in February 2003. It will
include profiles of companies along the Corridor and editorial on the region's high tech industry. Advertising space is also
