techCAMP
techCAMPs are free one- or two-day high tech workshops offered to
middle and high school educators to provide them with the knowledge
and tools necessary to guide students in their pursuit of high tech
careers. In addition, a one-day program on microscopy has been offered
in collaboration with the Orlando Science Center which has a Scanning
Electron Microscope connected to the Internet for classroom delivery.
The camps began with a series of semiconductor seminars, which
provided hands-on experience within the semiconductor manufacturing
environment and then expanded to include the optics and photonics
industry and modeling, simulation & training industry.
Since its inception, 33 techCAMPs have been delivered to almost
1,500 teachers. Plans for a digital media/interactive entertainment
camp, a photonics program, an information technologies techCAMP,
a life sciences/biotechnology camp and additional programs are
also underway.
