Microscopy Workshops

In partnership with the Orlando Science Center (OSC), techPATH installed a Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) and a high quality Optical Microscope (OM) to provide students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with this advanced technology. The students can operate the SEM and perform science projects under the supervision of OSC staff. The microscope is connected to the Internet so that classes can take virtual field trips without leaving their classroom.

A one day workshop that introduces microscopy and the potential to use this facility has been delivered to K-12 science educators across the Florida High Tech Corridor. This program can be delivered to any school district upon request by contacting Jeff Bindel or Vicki Morelli. The agenda for a typical delivery is listed in the links below.

The OSC SEM and microscope specialist Sally Thomas played a key role in a local group recently receiving a U.S. Daily Point of Light Award from the Points of Light Foundation in Washington. Sally is an active contributor to this workshop.
